This amount is increased with the age supplement and any additional supplement if the <a href=\"https:\/\/famiris.brussels\/en\/faq\/disability\/what-happens-to-the-child-benefit-if-my-child-has-a-disability\/\">child has a disability or condition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if the surviving parent starts cohabiting again?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p><strong>The orphan&#8217;s allowance is paid until the right to child benefits ends<\/strong>. It does not matter if the surviving parent starts cohabiting again or (re)marries.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>This rule was introduced in 2020 with the new Brussels child benefits and also applies to children who became orphans before 2020.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What do I need to do to receive the orphan&#8217;s allowance?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p><strong>You don&#8217;t need to do anything yourself<\/strong>.
