In Brussels, a child is entitled to child benefits until August 31 of the year they turn 18. After that, they can still receive child benefits until the age of 25 under certain conditions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

My child is studying and has a student job<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

A young person under 25 years old<\/strong> can study and work while still receiving child benefits. The condition is that the work does not exceed 240 hours per quarter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

If the student works more than 240 hours per quarter, you will not receive child benefits for that entire quarter.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

An exception <\/strong>to this rule is the third quarter <\/strong>(from July to September). During this period, the young person can work more than 240 hours<\/strong> without losing child benefits, provided they continue their studies after the summer vacation (in September or October).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Even if your child is registered with Actiris<\/strong> as a job-seeking school leaver, they can work and still receive child benefits (for a maximum of 360 days). The condition is that the work does not exceed 240 hours per quarter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
