We automatically check if your family is entitled to a social supplement on child benefits. <strong>You do not need to apply; this happens automatically<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do we determine if you are entitled to the social supplement?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Step 1: Checking the cadastral income<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Every year in January, we check if your cadastral income on January 1 of the previous year was a maximum of \u20ac2,000 (non-indexed). If not, you are not entitled to a social supplement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Step 2: Checking the taxable family income<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Is your cadastral income \u2264 \u20ac2,000? Then we look at your annual gross taxable family income. This must be below a certain <a href=\"https:\/\/famiris.brussels\/en\/faq\/payments-amounts-of-child-benefits\/child-benefit-rates\/#ceilings\">income threshold<\/a>. How we investigate this is explained below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automatic granting based on a subsistence income or replacement income<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>If you meet the following conditions, we assume that your family income is below the lowest <a href=\"https:\/\/famiris.brussels\/en\/faq\/payments-amounts-of-child-benefits\/child-benefit-rates\/#ceilings\">income threshold<\/a> and you will receive a social supplement:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Single parent<\/strong>: you receive a guaranteed minimum income from the CPAS or an income replacement benefit for unemployment, illness, or disability for at least 6 months of the calendar year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Family with multiple members<\/strong>: you or another family member receives a guaranteed minimum income from the CPAS for at least 6 months of the calendar year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>Famiris investigates this every year between July and December. The supplement is paid retroactively for the months in which your family situation remained the same.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automatic granting based on your tax return<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>Famiris can also automatically grant the social supplement based on your tax return. We receive this information from the Federal Public Service (FPS) Finance.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>You will receive a <strong>social supplement if your tax assessment notice shows that your annual gross taxable family income is below a certain <a href=\"https:\/\/famiris.brussels\/en\/faq\/payments-amounts-of-child-benefits\/child-benefit-rates\/#ceilings\">income threshold<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>If we cannot fully verify your income via the tax assessment notice, you can provide us with proof to show that your income is below the threshold amount. Families who do not live in Belgium receive a questionnaire annually to prove their income.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>Note: We temporarily pay the social supplement based on your income declaration. The final check is done two years later, based on the data we receive from the FPS Finance.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>Example: The final granting of the social supplement for the year 2025 is based on the tax data we receive in 2027 (tax return in 2026 for the income of 2025).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if you do not receive a social supplement but think you are entitled to it?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>Contact your case manager or apply for the supplement using <a href=\"https:\/\/famiris.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/SUP_EXAM_1_FR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the &#8216;social supplement&#8217; application form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/famiris.brussels\/en\/faq\/social-supplement\/documents-application-social-supplement\/\">Which documents do I need to apply for the social supplement?<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"heading\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Changes in your family, professional, or financial situation\u00a0<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p><strong>Always inform us if your situation changes<\/strong> and\/or your income exceeds or may exceed the allowed amount. This is important to avoid repayments.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>If Famiris learns that your family, professional, or financial\u00a0situation has changed, we will request your income again. For example, if a single parent starts cohabiting again or a family member no longer receives a subsistence income. The payments of the social supplement will then be temporarily stopped.
