Child benefit for foreign students

Starting 1 September 2025, new students of foreign nationality coming to Brussels with a student visa will no longer be entitled to Brussels child benefit.
Foreign students who are already receiving child benefits and are registered as residents in Brussels will keep their entitlement as long as they continue their studies and meet the conditions. The measure applies only to students who begin their studies from that date and who previously had no entitlement to Brussels child benefit.
