The school allowance is on its way

Good news for Brussels families: on Friday 1 August, Famiris will pay out the school allowance, together with the July child benefit.
What does this mean for you?
The amount you receive in August will be different than usual. That’s because, in addition to your monthly child benefit, you’ll also receive the annual age allowance — also known as the school allowance.
👉 You don’t need to do anything. The allowance is paid out automatically.
Who receives the school allowance?
Every child who was entitled to Brussels child benefit in July will receive this extra amount. The exact amount depends on your child’s age.
Even young children who are not yet in school are entitled to this allowance.
Why this allowance?
The start of a new school year often brings extra costs for families — school supplies, enrolment in extracurricular activities, and other household expenses. With the school allowance, the Brussels government wants to give families a little extra support.
