Which amount of child benefits do I receive for a child with a disability?

Does your child have a disability? You may be entitled to a supplement to the child benefits until the month the child turns 21.

This supplement is added to the basic child benefits and other supplements, if any.

The amount of the supplement for children with a disability is calculated depending on the degree of the disability’s consequences.

Calculate the  amount of child benefits you are entitled to with the on-line Famiris calculator or check the amounts below.

You will receive your monthly basic family allowance plus the amount corresponding to the situation of the disabled child.

When can a child benefit from increased disability allowances?

If your child has a disability or condition, you may be entitled to increased disability benefits if:

  • The child is under 21
  • The disability or condition has physical or mental consequences.
  • The condition affects the child’s daily activities, such as mobility, learning ability, hygiene, etc.
  • The child’s disability has repercussions for the household (living arrangements, medical treatment, special travel arrangements, etc.).

If your child’s disability has been recognized by a doctor at Iriscare’s CEAH (Centre d’évaluation de l’autonomie et du handicap), and he or she meets the above conditions, and is entitled to Brussels child benefit, you can apply to Famiris, the public child benefit fund for all Brussels residents.
