How often does my child’s condition or disability need to be reassessed?

Automatic reassessment

A new evaluation of the condition is automatically scheduled when the supplement’s benefit period is nearing its end. A few months before the previous decision’s expiration date, the CEAH will send the medical-social forms to the person receiving the child benefits to reassess the child’s condition.

Reassessment upon request

If you want an earlier reassessment because your child’s condition has changed, you need to request it through your file manager at Famiris.

A reassessment may result in a higher benefit amount—but it could also lead to a lower one, depending on how the doctor evaluates your child’s condition:

  • If the new decision follows directly from the previous one, the new amount will apply starting the next month.
  • If the doctor determines that the right to a higher amount began earlier, the difference may be paid retroactively (within the legal limitation period).
  • If the new amount is lower, it won’t be reclaimed. The reduced amount will only apply from the month following the notification.
