How is the severity of my child’s condition assessed?

A doctor from the Center for Evaluation of Autonomy and Disability (CEAH) determines whether your child is eligible for a supplement to the child benefits. The doctor evaluates the impact of the condition or disability on your child and your family.

This evaluation is based on a medical-social scale divided into three pillars:

  1. The physical and mental effects of the condition on your child.
  2. The impact on your child’s daily life (mobility, learning ability, personal care, etc.).
  3. The impact on the family’s daily life (transportation, adaptation of the living environment, etc.).

The doctor assigns points to each of these pillars. Your child is eligible for a supplement if they:

  • Score at least 4 points in the first pillar;
  • Or score at least 6 points across all three pillars combined.

The amount of the supplement depends on the total number of points.
